As we reflect on the close of another incredible season, I want to take a moment and extend my deepest thanks to each and every one of you. This year has been a testament to the power of community, camaraderie, and the shared love of both tennis and pickleball that binds us all together at Meadowwood Tennis Club.
From the very beginning of the season, we set out with a vision: to grow our membership, expand our programming, and foster an environment where members – old and new – could come together, play hard, and build meaningful connections. I’m proud to say we have not only met, but exceeded these goals in ways that speak to the heart of what makes our club so special.
Our membership grew 32% to over 400 members in 2024 welcoming new faces and fresh energy, while longtime members remained the core of our vibrant community. It has been amazing to see players of all ages and skill levels coming together on the courts, whether for competitive play, social games or one of our many fun events and clinics. We have truly embodied the spirit of inclusivity and support, and that is a direct reflection of all of you.
We have also expanded our programming to offer more than ever before. From beginner to advanced clinics, junior development programs, leagues and round robins, to our ever-popular social events and tournaments, there is something for everyone at Meadowwood Tennis Club. The smiles and laughter that fill our courts every week are the best possible reminder of the strong sense of camaraderie that we have worked hard to build.
Behind all of this growth and success, there has been an incredible group of volunteers, board members and unsung heroes who have dedicated their time and energy to ensuring that our programs run smoothly and that our club remains a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable space for all. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has contributed – whether by organizing play, mentoring new players, improving our facilities, or simply being present to support others.
At the recent Annual General Meeting, membership voted in the new 2025 Board of Directors: Joyce Bish (President); Jeff Tsuji (Vice President); Mary Manarin (Treasurer); Tracy Danbrook (Secretary); Ted Dziedzic (Director). With your continued support, we will reach new heights next year including celebrating the Club’s 65th anniversary.
Thank you once again for making this season one to remember. The energy, enthusiasm, and sense of unity you bring to the club is what makes Meadowwood so much more than just a place to play tennis and/or pickleball. It’s a place where friendships are forged, memories are made, and every serve and volley is a testament to the spirit of togetherness that defines us.
Enjoy the off-season, and I look forward to seeing you all back on the courts next year!
Warm Regards,
Joyce Bish
President
